Research on Thriller Audeinces

Looking at the audience that view different Thriller films will help us to create our film aimed at different audiences and the type of people that may view our thriller film opening. I have used YouGov Profiler to look at the different audiences that watch different thriller films. (https://yougov.co.uk/profiler#/)

Taken(2008)

"A retired CIA agent travels across Europe and relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter, who has been kidnapped while on a trip to Paris."

The audience that Taken was most popular amongst was males age 25-39 with the typical professions of Finance. YouGovs research shows they tend to particularly enjoy boxing and have a general interest in movies they can also be rather confrontational.

Pretty Little Liars(2010-Present)

"Four friends band together against an anonymous foe who threatens to reveal their darkest secrets, while unraveling the mystery of the murder of their best friend."

The audience that Pretty Little Liars is most popular amongst are females ages 18-24 with the typical profession of Media and Publishing. YouGovs research shows they have a general interest in People and Celebrities and tend to watch chick flick films.



Gone Girl (2014)

"With his wife's disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent."

The audience that Gone Girl is most popular amongst are females aged 18-24 with the typical profession of Media and Publishing.  Yougovs research shows they have a general interest in music, going to the cinema and tennis.



Lucy(2014)

The audience that Lucy is most popular amongst are males aged 40-59 with the typical profession of Engineering. YouGovs research shows they have a general interest in Formula 1, going to the cinema and movies.

Divergent(2014)

"In a world divided by factions based on virtues, Tris learns she's Divergent and won't fit in. When she discovers a plot to destroy Divergents, Tris and the mysterious Four must find out what makes Divergents dangerous before it's too late."

The audience that Divergent is most popular amongst are females aged 18-24 with the typical profession and agriculture and farming. YouGovs research shows they have a general interest in movies and going to the cinema.

This research shows that Thrillers with a strong female main character in usually attracts female audiences aged 18-24 with a general interest in celebrities and the movies. Whereas thrillers with a main character of a man tend to attract a male audience who are middle aged. Our film is based on 4 main characters who are female. Therefore this research shows that we should aim our film at a female audience aged 18-24 and possible make our institution mainstream as mainstream institutions use well known actors and this may also attract our audience.
