We used a lot of different technologies in order to create our film opening, When starting this we didn't have much knowledge on these technologies but over this course of work we have all become very familiar with the technologies which have helped us create and construct our film opening.
We used IMovie which can be found on the IMac to edit out movie. We used this technology to edit it out Preliminary task and therefore already had some knowledge on how to use it. IMovie helped us to edit our Film Opening which included adding music, adding titles and rearranging and splitting clips which therefore ended in our final piece being how we wanted it to be. Over the course of using IMac we became more and more confident in how to use it and by our 3rd and Final cut we were able to use many of the different tools available on the software. We were able to change the lighting in some of our scenes which helped create an effect on these scenes that promote a film that is more of a thriller genre. As for IMovie we only really used this as IMovie was on there, at first i struggled with how to use the IMac as I had never used it before and it is very different to the typical computer but after some time and with some help it soon got the hang of it. Despite enjoying using IMovie I would like to learn how to use Final Cut Express to edit with at one point because despite it seeming more difficult I feel it has more to offer to us and will give us a better looking film by the end.
To record our progression and show the research we did before and whilst creating out film opening we used Blogger. This is an online site where you can upload blogs which have information on but where you can also embed videos, prezzis and powerpoint which gives an end product which looks neat and is east to view. It is also easy to locate work and easy to edit. I liked using Blogger very much as it is quick and simple to use. Although I did want to use blogger at certain stages and it had problems on the site which meant It wasn't running correctly which did add problems for us. Youtube was also used to upload our Rough Cuts and overall Film Opening. This was handy as it is easy to use but also easy to add these to Blogger which means we could add videos and discuss them throughout our research and planning and actually making.
We filmed our Film Opening on a Panasonic HDC-TM900 camera and we also used a tripod. We used the tripod to ensure that the camera was steady which therefore meant out shots were steady and easy to see. This helped us give it a more professional finish which we desired and helped us look more like a Mainstream Institution. We filmed everything using a tripod apart from the older the shoulder shots of Lucy receiving the anonymous text message where there was not enough space and it wasn't practical to use a Tripod. The cameras we used for our preliminary task was different to the Panasonic HD one we used to film our Film Opening. The one for our preliminary task was a lot more basic and didn't have the same finish as the Panasonic HD which gave us clear defines shots which therefore gave our film that professional look. The Panasonic was easy to use and easy to view our shots on to ensure the shots were suitable.
Overall i enjoyed using IMovie as we were experienced with it but maybe next time I would enjoy using Final Cut Express as it is something different and may help us create a better film. I think despite this the equipment we used helped us create a film that was created by a mainstream film and were able to find different editing tools to give us the Thriller theme.
